What could be sweeter than this surprise 90th birthday invitation for “Muffie?” These tri-fold, vintage candy box parody invitations were printed on metallic gold card stock with a white reverse side. Perfect for a lifelong chocolate lover!

Katie and Steve's Hibiscus and Magnolia Watercolor Wedding invitations

We are playing catch up posting our summer and fall wedding invitation photos. Here is an original watercolor commissioned for Katie and Steve's wedding, which took place back in September. The artwork shows a mixture of magnolias and hibiscus flowers. Also included is their "Endless Summer" save the date card, which along with the invite showcases their love of the ocean (and Steve's love for  surfing!).

Antique Book Wedding Invitations

Tiffany contacted us last fall requesting a wedding invitation that parodied an antique book. When we met, we found out that she wished to recreate the cover of a specific book, 'The Water Witch," by James Fennimore Cooper. The classic sea adventure's setting was Tiffany and Thomas's June wedding venue. The Water Witch Clubhouse, in Highlands, New Jersey sits atop one of the highest points on the eastern seaboard and boasts sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and New York Harbor. We created a pen and ink drawing of the Clubhouse and designed the book jacket around it. The cover was printed in gold thermography on a linen card stock. The couple's Golden Retriever made an appearance on the back book cover and on the bookmark/direction card.

Key West Southernmost Point Buoy Save the Dates

Destination weddings are usually a great opportunity for us to design something atypical, and this is especially true for save the dates. Our clients Mandy and Ed will be married next year at Truman Little White House in Key West, but wanted a more general Key West theme for their save the date cards. The southernmost point buoy worked well in parody format, and is immediately recognizable as a symbol of the storied Florida destination.

Wine Label Parody Save the Date

Arturo paper stock can make a great design look even better.  Deckled card edges and the soft texture of the cotton paper perfectly complemented the sketch of the clubhouse at Crystal Springs Resort.  And, of course, we never shy away from a parody.

Wedding Gifts for Mom and Dad

It is not unusual for us to have clients ask us to create portraits as gifts. When our bride-to-be, Shannon, requested  two movie poster parodies to give to her parents as wedding gifts, we were really excited. We have created "Father of the Bride" paintings before, but the "My Cousin Vinny" concept was a new challenge. Shannon and her mother shared a love for the movie for many years. Making the two of them into "Mona Lisa" and "Vinny" (and her older sister into the judge) was pretty amusing.

Top Secret Birthday Bash

For his surprise 60th birthday, Brian's family booked "The Archive Room" in New York City. They requested that we play off of the archive theme and, of course, we jumped at the chance to do something creative. His wife and daughter gave us this old photograph and submitted personal facts, from which we drew his "dossier."

The Endless Summer Save the Date

Amanda and John-Austin love old movies and they adore the ocean. He surfs and owns Caught Outside Photography and she spends her summers enjoying the beach. We combined their two passions into a movie poster parody of "The Endless Summer" (the colors from the original film and the concept from the sequel). Their dog Hobie was a must for inclusion into the poster. How much fun is this?!

Bridal Shower Lottery Ticket Wishing Well

For Stephanie's shower, her bridal party and mother decided upon lottery tickets as a fun wishing well gift idea. We thought it would be amusing to make the insert look like a NJ Lottery ticket and found the right patterned paper to give a similar feel to the actual tickets.

Annie and Paul's Wedding

The very spirited Annie and Paul were wed a couple of weeks ago. Their personalities and enthusiasm (for not only getting married, but also for this part of the nuptial planning), showed through in this map/parody invitation set. Both Annie and Paul are fans of Broadway, so we designed a logo for their very own show/Playbill cover. A hand-cut cupcake functioned as a reception card, and we used the cupcake icon again on the map, with "Han Solo" and "Princess Leia" cake toppers.

Phillies vs. Yankees

Kelly and Chris were married yesterday. She's a Phillies fan and he loves the Yankees. We created a wedding logo to parody MLB's recognizable brand and used it on the jersey-style table cards. Team Line Up cards served as seating assignments. For their own sweetheart table, the bride and groom used Bobby Abreu, No. 53, a former member of both teams.

Golf Scorecard Save the Date

Since we're posting fun Save the Dates, here is a new one. Shannon and Dave played miniature golf on their first date. They chose the same date of July 19th for their 2011 wedding, which falls in the middle of the week. We decided to emphasize the 7-19-11 date in their scorecard. They were good sports about having such terrible scores.

Passport to Atlantis Destination Wedding Invitations

Karen and Eric's destination wedding invitation request was most definitely a first for us. Our challenge was to make as realistic a passport parody as possible. The booklets were all made by hand, and the stamps and state seals were illustrated to represent places they had lived and/or visited. The state seals found their way on seating cards at the reception and reflected each guest's home.

"Father of the Bride" Bridal Shower Invitation

A client came to us in March with the idea to surprise her friend, the bride-to-be, with an illustrated shower invitation using "Father of the Bride" as a theme. The movie had always been the bride's favorite, and our client had the tricky job of sneaking to get an appropriate pose from the bride. Dad, however, was in on the joke and perfectly mocked Steve Martin's expression from the movie poster.

40th Birthday Baseball Card Invitation

We design invitations for every occasion, and the landmark birthdays are always a great deal of fun. We had the idea to parody a baseball card for an invitation long before we had a client who was receptive to the idea. To date, this is still one of our favorites.
