A weekend filled with all the fun Point Pleasant Beach has to offer. Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, restaurants, hotel, waterfront bars, and more are all close to the wedding venues.

Bold Navy Pen and Ink Save the Date Map

New illustrated map Save the Dates for Jessica and Anthony's October 2019 wedding. A monochromatic, pen and ink map in navy makes a real statement. The nautical color is always a good choice for a Bay Head Yacht Club wedding.

Map for the Hogan Family

Map for the Hogan Family. We began working with Katie and Kevin in 2009, when we designed the save the date for their 2010 wedding. Since then, between Katie and Kevin and their extended families, we have completed too many projects to post here. From a custom monogram to wedding invitations and day of the wedding materials to baby showers; wedding gift portraits (Father of the Bride parody) to anniversary portraits to baby portraits; banners to Christmas cards; moving announcements to retirement parties; birthdays to barbecues. We even created books for each of their children, year by year, chronicling the year's events and their growth in illustration. We are now at 11 books and counting! So a map seemed a logical next project, and we were happy to make such a special gift for a wonderful family.

British Virgin Islands Adventure Map

The Amarante family commissioned a map of the British Virgin Islands to commemorate their 2016 "dream trip." The map routes their sailing trip and the highlights along the way.

Spring Lake, NJ map updated with ceremony and reception banners, plus icons representing the groom's home and a lifeguard chair to commemorate his time as a Belmar lifeguard. The RSVP card features illustrations of historic tiles from the Spring Lake boardwalk. Lisa and Ian's dog, Corra, made for a cute compass center, and their reception card featured the venue -  Essex and Sussex on Ocean Avenue in Spring Lake.

Composite, Customized Save the Dates

Sometimes we meet with clients who are interested in having an illustrated map commissioned for weddings or save the dates but don't have a lot of time until they will be mailing them. We realized we could offer a compromise and customize an existing map! Lisa and Chris's story was geographically similar to our original blog post here. We were able to Photoshop in some elements I created for other maps and add some digital type. Original hand lettering for "Save the Date" fit right into the space and we were able to give our client a map save the date not soon after.

Illustrated Map Wedding Invitations

Danielle and Michael's Illustrated Map wedding invitation suite features custom handlettering and a touch of watercolor to complement the art. Their reception card shows their venue, The Asbury Hotel in AsburyPark, NJ. We included the compass art from the map on their RSVP card, which is a tribute to their favorite Springsteen and the E Street Band song, "Two Hearts."

Illustrated Maps from 2017

All of these illustrated maps were commissioned as gifts (top to bottom): Kelly as a wedding gift to Karl; Jackie to Matt as a wedding gift to one another; Jennifer's 2nd wedding anniversary gift to her husband, Arnold; Jenny to her mentor, Nancy; and Dana's parents' upon her graduation from the University of Maryland.

Jenna & Bryan's Intercontinental Love Story

Jenna and Bryan met as physicians when she traveled to Ecuador to work with his family's foundation, Foundation Teolinda Troya Escobar. The organization provides medical assistance to the most vulnerable communities in Ecuador.

Pen and Ink Map

A thoughtful Bridal Shower gift from her maid of honor, this pen and ink map is a departure from our usual watercolor maps. Colored pencils were used to complete the land and water accents.

Autumn Wedding in Rustic Bucks, Co., Pennsylvania

Dana and Chris were married a few months ago at the historic Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm in New Hope, Pennsylvania. We began working with them in the fall of 2015 when we designed their Save the Date cards. An autumn theme was consistent throughout their designs, and the invitations featured an original watercolor floral bouquet, with their names printed in rose gold foil letterpress. Their diamond laurel monogram was used on invitation tags, cocktail napkins and wedding dinner menu. We also created a illustrated map of the venue area which were attached to hotel guests' gift bags.

Wedding Gift Commissions

We are often asked to create original artwork to be given as wedding gifts. Above are some recently completed gifts from parents to newlyweds and also from bride to groom (and sometimes couples have paintings created for themselves!).

From top: Katie and Andrew commissioned a wedding map together and had a print made to show at their wedding reception.

Carly had a portrait of her wedding venue, the gorgeous Mallard Island Yacht Club, created for a first anniversary gift to her husband Doug.

Kim and Matt also had a map created for their wedding, which they also displayed at their reception.

Lastly, Dana and Chris were married at the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The mother of the bride surprised them with this watercolor of the venue.

Amanda and Brian's Final Wedding Map

Amanda and Brian are getting married on the beach here in Manasquan next month with a Clambake to follow along Stockton Lake. We used the preliminary sketch for this map for their Save the Date cards. Amanda and Brian's wedding colors lent a whimsical touch, as well as their request for the two lobsters "holding claws."
